KADAPA: Minister for Minority Welfare Mohd. Ahmedullah on Tuesday assured sanction of 7,000 Indiramma houses to new applicants in Kadapa city by acquiring private lands as the government lands were not available for the purpose.

Addressing ‘Rachabanda' meetings in Ganjikunta Colony, Xionpuram, Akkayapalle and Sankarapuram here, he said 14,000 houses had been sanctioned so far. He asked applicants to insist on acknowledgement for the representations and obtain receipts from officials concerned.

The Minister faced an irksome situation when some persons questioned him on sanction of Indiramma houses to beneficiaries owning houses and keeping white ration cards pending.

When former in-charge Municipal Chairperson Bola Padmavathi demanded renaming of ‘Rachabanda' after YSR, Mr. Ahmedullah said people would be reminded of YSR by the name ‘Rachabanda', as he had named the programme.

‘Dhobighat'
When CPI(M) leader Sawant Sudhakar said the Minister failed to keep up his promise given on October 7 last year to resolve problems when CPI(M) members staged hunger strike, the Minister directed officials to construct a ‘dhobighat' in Akkayapalle with his MLA Constituency Development Fund.

Compound wall

The Minister promised to construct a compound wall to the Marathi burial ground, cement roads in Akkayapalle and Xionpuram from his constituency funds by March.

He gave away Pavala vaddi loans, Abhaya Hastam bonds, ration coupons and pensions. Municipal Commissioner D. John Samson, RDO P. Ranjit Basha, MEPMA Project Director Venkatasubbaiah, executive director of Minorities Corporation Srinivasa Rao, municipal officials, tahsildar Muniraju, Arogya Mitra Sridevi, officials and others participated.
