KCR sets Jan. 6 'deadline' for Union government

Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekar Rao has called upon all elected representatives from Telangana region to create political crisis by resigning their posts after January 6 if the Union Government takes a negative stand on formation of Telangana.

“If they fail to do so, they will remain as non-entities in history,” he said.

Addressing a public meeting in Gadwal town on Thursday evening, he said that he is setting a deadline to the Union government up to January 6, the day on which it is likely to take a stand over the issue.

“If UPA government fails to announce its decision in favour of Telangana, we will intensify our struggle to achieve our goal. There is no question of going back” he declared. He said nobody from the region will back track on Telangana struggle even if the Union government dumps scores of central paramiltary forces.

Posing a question to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy whether he is ready to allocate to Telangana the entire 90 TMC ft of surplus water of the Krishna earmarked by the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal to the State, he said that judicious allocation from Krishna, Godavari rivers to Telangana region is possible only if statehood is given to Telangana.

He said SCs, STs, BCs and minorities, who constitute 85 percent of the population in Telangana, will get complete benefits only in separate state.

He disclosed that retired engineers of Telangana have designed a mega irrigation project which will provide irrigation potential to cultivable land from Jurala in Mahabubnagar district to Pakala in Warangal.
