KADAPA: District Collector Shashi Bhushan Kumar directed officials on Wednesday to take steps to provide employment to eligible persons from among the displaced under Brahmamsagar reservoir within a month.

Speaking at a district-level review meeting and review of the court cases, he said that displaced persons whose lands were taken over in six villages, notably Jangamrajupalle, Z. Kothapalle, Cheekativaripalle, Obularajupalle, Basavapuram, Gollapalle, for Brahmamsagar reservoir, which was an integral part of the NTR Telugu Ganga project, must be provided employment in various project offices.

313 candidates had applied for jobs as on September 9, 2006 and 262 applications were received subsequently, the Collector said. Of them, 210 candidates were identified as eligible after enquiry and a report was forwarded to the government on September 24, 2009. The government approved the proposals and issued orders on October 31, Mr. Shashi Bhushan Kumar said.

Mydukur MLA D.L. Ravindra Reddy raised objections about issuance of appointments to 37 eligible candidates and the orders were kept in abeyance in November 2009, he explained. A re-enquiry was conducted and 170 eligible candidates were identified and the government approved the list, he said.

They must be provided employment as junior assistants, typists and other posts in the NTR Telugu Ganga, GNSS, construction and irrigation circles, special deputy collector of Land Acquisition, Tungabhadra High-Level Canal and HNSS office in Anantapur, the Collector said.
He also wanted the reservation categories to be verified.

The Collector directed taking over of relevant records and documents from the Chief Engineer of Telugu Ganga at Srikalahasti as the next meeting was scheduled on November 13.
He told officials to bring the seniority list of eligible candidates, master registers, list of office-wise vacancies and roster points to the meeting.

The seniority lists should have SC, ST, BC and women reservation categories, he said.
