TDP will win next elections: Balakrishna

KADAPA: Telugu Desam (TDP) will regain power in the State with a comfortable majority in the next Assembly elections, TDP leader and film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna predicted on Sunday.

Mr. Balakrishna called upon the party rank and file to strive to regain the people's confidence and regain power in order to pay a fitting tribute to NTR, who strived relentlessly for the uplift of the poor.

He unveiled a life-size bronze statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao near the bus stand at Railway Kodur in Kadapa district and performed “palabhishekam”.

Recalling that his father established TDP in 1982 and rode to power within nine months, Mr. Balakrishna asked the party men to strive to restore the pristine glory of the party.

Recalling Rama Rao's advice to him to empathise with the poor , Mr. Balakrishna said he relentlessly yearned to uplift the downtrodden, weaker and poorer sections. NTR believed in helping the needy rather than live for oneself, he remarked. Assuring to stand by the party activists and his fans, he said that he would wish to be born as NTR's son if he has rebirth.

People cheered Mr. Balakrishna when he arrived for the programme. Cries of ‘NTR Zindabad' rented the air. The actor broke coconuts and put a large garland to NTR's statue and showered flower petals.
He lauded TDP leader Katta Balaji for taking initiative to install NTR's statue.

Party's Rajya Sabha member M.V. Mysoora Reddy, Proddatur MLA and district party president M. Linga Reddy, former MLA and Rajampet constituency in charge K. Madanmohan Reddy and local leaders greeted Mr. Balakrishna.

TDP district general secretary M. Venkataswamy Reddy, vice-president S. Subhan Basha, State Minority Cell president V.S. Ameer Babu, State secretary S. Goverdhan Reddy and Telugu Rythu State vice-president G. Lakshmi Reddy and other partymen and fans garlanded Mr. Balakrishna and greeted him.
