Siddavatam Fort

Another major spot of tourist's intrest of the Kadapa district is the Siddavatam Fort. It stands on the bank of Pennar River and covers area of 30 acres. It was built in 1330 AD. The majestic gateways at the two ends have embellished pillars and intricate carvings of Gajalakshmi at the top. 17 square bations which protected the area are still an impressive sight.

A special feature of the fort is an ancillary passage allowing people to enter when main gates are closed. Often referred to as the gateway to Srisailam or Dakshina Kasi. Siddavatam Fort also encompasses beautifully sculpted temples inside it's premises. These included Siddheswara, Bala Brahma, Ranganayaka Swamy and a Durga Temple that attracts numerous piligrims. The Sidddavatam Fort is located near Rajampet around 20km from Rajampet.

  1. Pictures are wonderful. I have visited this place just yesterday. Nice photography. There were some ruined temples inside the fort but I could not identify them separately as Siddheswara, Bala Brahma, Ranganayaka Swamy and a Durga Temples. Nice coverage by pictures. Keep it up.
