KADAPA: Setting the ball rolling for Sri Krishnadevarayulu Panchasatha Pattabhisheka Mahotsavams slated in Kadapa district on July 25 and 26, Zilla Parishad CEO A.S. Venkataswamy and members of the publicity committee launched a large red balloon, to popularise the festivities, atop the Syndicate Bank main branch at Seven Roads junction on Thursday.
The fete will commence with a massive rally by cultural artistes from Rajiv Park to the municipal stadium, the venue for the mahotsavam at 1 p.m., Mr. Venkataswamy said. Colourfully attired performing artistes would take part in the rally to portray the legacy of Sri Krishnadevarayulu, an Emperor of the Vijayanagar kingdom, he said.
Incidentally the name of the district was mentioned as YSR district on the balloon, depicting the change that came into effect today. INTACH district convenor S. Sitaramaiah participated.
